A credible alternative.....

This morning I attended a 4Networking meeting in Saffron Walden where the presentation was given by John Parker from Network Marketing Business Coach. Network Marketing has often received a bad press in the past and has on occasion perceived to be a bit of a scam. However John gave a witty and informative talk on what it takes to make a success of network marketing and which scheme may or may not be the one for each individual. It was a refreshing change to hear a clear, down to

Cheques and Balances

I read some while ago in The Guardian that Denis O’Brien had launched a verbal attack on the company that owns and publishes The Independent and it’s Sunday stable mate. He is reported to be the second biggest shareholder in that company and he reckons it’ll close or be sold by Christmas. Seems a curious way of motivating those who work for him, but perhaps they are not his most pressing concern.

The Good Old Days

I've heard the comment so many times; I bet you have too! "You should have been here when…."   “The way we used to do things was so much better.”….."Of course in my day it was …." "If you'd been here when"…. "You've missed the best of it…" That sort of comment. I first heard it when I joined the "London Evening News" to sell classified advertisement space.

We are delighted to announce...

A Week is a long time

Did you have a good week? I hope you did, in fact I hope yours was as good as mine, because for me it was extraordinary! I have written a novel and learned this week that it is to be published. Now don't get me wrong, I don't see myself as a latter day Jeffrey Archer or a rival to Bernard Cornwell but I bet they would know the feeling of being told that their first book was to be published. They must have felt the same rush of excitement as I did at the news that an editor liked the work enough to publish it.

I don't need one of those.....

There is general consensus among a lot of the people I meet that everyone needs a website. So I was shocked when, a while ago, I came across the statistics that 45%-55% (depending on which survey you read) of businesses do not have a website. Surely with the rapid growth of the internet and broadband, this percentage would be so much lower.

Success is in the air.....

Many of our clients are people starting their own business for the first time. One of the most satisfying elements of my job is being at the beginning of our client’s journey into the unknown, watch them start to fulfil their potential and build a successful business.

Don't do as I do, do as I tell you!

In 1978 I was I was asked to chair a sales conference in Warsaw. At the time I was Group Advertisement Controller of Mirror Group Newspapers. I tackled the task with enthusiasm and invited some of the leading figures in the marketing and advertising business to attend. I asked each of them to speak on a subject of their choice and to give a view on the future direction of industry in general and their section of it in particular. The trade press would attend to report the proceedings. Why Warsaw?

A picture speaks a thousand words.....

Today Cariad Business Web is delighted to announce the launch of a new website, easthertsphotography.co.uk run by Lisa Summers, a very accomplished portrait photographer based in Ware, Hertfordshire.

I just know they're out to get me.....

Not that I’m being paranoid or anything but my house seems to be overrun with spiders at the moment. Armed with a pair of rubber gloves, I can just about cope with the tiddlers but it is the whoppingly huge Hertfordshire Brown spiders that scare me witless. I’m convinced they are conspiring to drive me into becoming a gibbering wreck in retaliation for killing so many of their friends. I can’t even wash them down the sink. The determination with which they dig their legs into the side of the plughole amazes me – they just won’
